Nike Invades New York Fashion Week
Winter finally decides to pay a visit to NYC this week, but that's not stopping fashion royalty and influencers from attending New York Fashion Week. Designers have always incorporated sneakers into some of their runway looks, but Nike has decided to join in on the festivities. For some time now, Nike has been dominating the footwear industry. With Adidas newly revived creativity and Under Armour slowly eating away at market shares, the Swoosh has ramped up its efforts at remaining the king of sneakers. Over the course of New York Fashion Week, Nike will be releasing some iconic collaborations that will have sneakerheads scouring the city for kicks. Riccardo Tisci, Comme Des Garcon, and Acronym are just a few of the designers releasing shoes this week with Nike.
Offering another take on the Dunk Lux High x RT, Tisci and NikeLab have created a mid, the new NikeLab Dunk Lux Chukka x RT. The shoe, which comes in both black/white and red/white colorways, is specifically inspired by Tisci’s interest in the aesthetics of skate culture and retro ‘80s basketball.
The NikeLab Dunk Lux Chukka x RT will be available beginning February 10 at NikeLab at Bergdorf Goodman, NikeLab 21M, Dover Street Market New York, Kith BK and Concepts NYC. It will be available globally starting February 23 at NikeLab retailers and on nike.com/nikelab.
Aesthetics and technical genius, Errolson Hugh, brings his expertise back to the Nike family as well. He remixes the Nike Air Force 1 High with a downtown sensibility. A follow-up to his Nikelab Air Force 1 Low collaboration that added zippers and premium material to the 1982 icon. The NikeLab x Acronym® Air Force 1 Downtown HI SP transforms the staple sneaker with the addition of a premium leather and soft-shell upper, plus a high collar complete with adjustable, quick-release strap.

The Nike Dunk Hi x COMME Des GARCON is a nod to an emperor’s vain misfortune — that he was tricked into buying and wearing “invisible clothing,” thus exposing himself.
The Dunk retains its leather overlay, in black, over a translucent tpu vamp, quarter, tongue and collar, revealing foam underneath the tongue and collar, in addition to the wearer’s sock choice. Holes on the medial quarter and vamp provide ventilation.
